Matt Sandberg - Chair

After overseeing Colorado Mountain News Media's operations in Summit and Grand counties, Sandberg was recently hired as director of marketing & innovation for Swift Communications. Sandberg’s tenure with Swift Communications, the parent company of Colorado Mountain News Media, began in June 2003 when he joined the Summit Daily as advertising account manager. Since that time he has had roles as advertising sales manager and advertising director of the Summit Daily, director of sales for the Summit Daily and Vail Daily and then publisher.

Lisa Schlichtman - Director

Schlichtman was named editor of the Steamboat Pilot & Today in July 2013. During Lisa's 25-year newspaper career, she has served in many capacities including: newspaper reporter, editor, and owner and publisher of newspapers and magazines in Southwest Missouri.

Jerry Healey - Director

Healey is the owner and publisher of Colorado Community Media, which includes 18 different community newspapers and is read by more than 300,000 people. Last year, the company launched integrated marketing solutions that includes many digital advertising products as well as print. Healey has been involved in publishing on and off since graduating from Northeastern University with a degree in marketing.

Matt Lubich - Director

Lubich is the executive editor and co-owner of The Johnstown Breeze and general manager of The UNC Mirror. He has co-owned The Breeze with his wife, Lesli Bangert, since 1997. The 100-plus-year-old weekly newspaper has covered the communities of Johnstown and Milliken (Colo.) and surrounding Weld and Larimer counties since 1904.

Beacher Threatt - Director

Beecher and her husband purchased the Plaindealer and Ridgway Sun in September 2010. Beecher has served as a legislative aide in the Texas House of Representatives, practiced law as a partner in an Austin, Texas, served as the executive editor of a legal nonprofit, and as an adjunct professor of law at University of Texas Law School. She became licensed to practice law in Colorado in 1997, and worked for Killian and Associates in Grand Junction.

Brenda Brandt - Director

Brenda Brandt is owner/publisher of The Holyoke Enterprise. Along with her sister and brother-in-law, Brandt is co-owner of Johnson Publications Inc., with papers in Holyoke, as well as Imperial, Grant and Wauneta, all in Nebraska. She has been at the Enterprise since 1979, handling advertising sales since 1994. In 2017, she assumed the role of sales director for Johnson Publications Inc. She has a degree in journalism and math education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

David Habrat - Director

David Habrat brings two decades of community newspaper leadership to SYNC2. He resides in Durango with his wife Amy and works at Ballantine Communications, Inc. Habrat’s initiatives include championing the cause of community journalism, teaching the craft of “high converting” commercial messaging through traditional and new media audience channels, and crafting “future-proof” marketing resources for local and regional SMB’s. Habrat is an award winning ad designer, digital publishing and marketing thought leader, plus news, local search and niche product publisher.
