Basic design principles

Learn or brush up on design fundamentals that will have you producing dynamic, engaging, clean, organized, and clutter-free pages. Areas we will cover include: Page navigation, maintaining balance, photo display, use of white space, headline treatments, and maintaining appropriate hierarchies of content.

Developing and leading niche publications

When developing a niche publication, it is important that your content strategy, look and feel of the physical publication, advertising approach, and online and social media strategies reflect and focus on the particular audience you are trying to reach. In this session you will see how David Holub conceived of and developed DGO Magazine in Durango, an alt-weekly focusing on arts, entertainment, food, drink, marijuana, and nightlife aimed primarily at Millennials.
