Newspaper Association Managers, Inc. (NAM) has announced that The National Newspaper Week (NNW) webpage for 2018 is completed and ready to promote this year’s theme: “Journalism matters. NOW more than ever.” NNW is sponsored by NAM, a consortium of North American trade associations representing the industry on state, provincial, regional and national levels.

The 78th annual National Newspaper Week will be observed Oct. 7-13. The annual celebration “marks the impact of newspapers in their communities,” and is a recognition of “the service of newspapers and their employees across North America.” Material – including a logo, editorials, cartoons, a crossword puzzle, promotional ads and more – is now available to Colorado Press Association members to download at no charge from the NNW site: www.nationalnewspaperweek.com.

NAM is urging you to celebrate the week by devoting as many column inches as possible to “reinforce the importance of newspapers to your communities. Please also make it local by editorializing about your newspaper’s unique relevance” – including information about your government watchdog role, coverage of community events and publication of public notices.
